General Cycling Discussion - Just a Great Ride Thread

Went out for my ride this morning, on the fairfax county parkway for you no.VA people. The weather here is completly cloudy but not raining. It was fairly cool as well. I made a point today to really try and spin up the hills and keep my speed up. Additionally I was just cruising around in the big ring. I actually feel better riding in the big ring than the middle ring. Yeah, I have a triple, never used the granny ring. Anyway, for 34 miles over semi-hilly terrain I averaged 19.3mph. My best to date. What a ride! Even better traffic was backed up so I got to fly by all these cars just sitting there! Thats all I wanted to say.

damn, I'm never going to be able to keep up with you!!! I need to get some saddle time, i have not had much. Well nice ride, and keep it up!

Ive got my parkway route down cold. I get pissed off when I have to stop for cars going onto on/off ramps. Im normally in the 'zone' then have to actually stop on the parkway. Riding again this weekend I hope?

Hey tri- I heard a lot of flooding reports this morning on wtop- did you have to go around any closed roads?

Not on the parkway anywhere. I was a little worried things might be slick at some places but it wasnt at all. I ride from the burke lake area up to the reston area on the parkway and all of that was dry and clear.
