We rode there Sunday and we saw no 4x's. It was mostly fire road no single track.

There is a HUGE "newbie" ride at Blackstar on Sat at 8am with people from Socaltrailriders.org.... About 35-40 people are signed up to do it

We will be doing this ride at San Juan trail. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=328726 All single track, yeah.

I'm hiding till you do GMR with me! MTB sounds fun but I need miles to get back into shape. Don't really see a benefit in downhilling, which is part of the fun from what I've heard from MTB'ers. I need some climbing so I'll prolly go up GMR since Gina may have to work tomorrow. Then do a SART recovery ride on Sunday.

If nobody rides mtb with you, I'd be happy to take you up GMR. I'll even let you cross the finish line first!:

I'd ride with you but after I hit that tree two weeks ago i was feeling ok... went for a ride then went the following day and my back freaked out... so I haven't gone riding since the 21st. So doing STT might be a bad idea if my back decides to spasm again.

Ok, I rode Santiago Truck Trail today.
had a good ride, and did it pretty much non-stop to the top.
Well, I did stop just long enough to slurp some gel on the way up, but that doesn't count.:rolleyes:

Started at 7:30 and got the car stuck in the loose rocks/sand on the side of the road.
Figured, heck with it, the truck in front will be gone when I get back and I'll then just roll forward..
And it worked!

Started and it was a nice, in the low 70's. by the time I reached the top, it was probably
in the high 80's in places. It's kind of interesting how riding that trail has noticeable areas of
hot and cool air....

The new components worked great! The LBS installed a Rapid Rise rear deraileur, which I wasn't expecting,
and have never used before. But it worked great! Push the lever just alittle bit and it shifts 2 gears lower! ( thats "easier" for us gravity challenged individuals ).

so, 3 hours up and back, it must be apx 16 mi with 2500" elev gain, which means 2500' of DOWNHILL over 8 miles!! ( the data here is the opinion of the writer, and may or may not be accurate ).

Anyone that considered this ride and didn't show, missed a good ride.

I don't know about that..
I did almost fall off the side..
going up slowly, back tire rolls over a loose rock, I fall left.
Manage to unclip and hop off the bike.
I seems had I not unclipped i would have done a 10-20 verticle drop.

Oh, and then there was the snarling Mt.Lion today, but that's another story.:rolleyes:

A few years ago a few riders were bombing down STT saying there was a Mt Lion on the trail, and they
were outta there.
I figured it had gone by then, and continued the ride. Needless to say, I saw nada.

No picture, was more a phrase like 'cut out of the scene'. But I just may have to start photoshopping friends into my pictures if John keeps stealing 'em!:p
