I have been mountain biking for two years, and i want to get a road bike. My longest ride so far is a 75 miles ride through new york. I will probably only have around $5-600 to spend on this bike. Tell me what i should get. Also if i should wait and save a little bit more for the bike.

A little more and you should get a nice bike with 105.

for 5-600 i'd look at used bikes. you can't really find a new bike with decent componentry for that price... look for a used bike equipped with shimano tiagra/campagnolo mirage components or better. shimano 105 or campy veloce would be ideal.

you might want to look at the Felt F75 (http://www.feltracing.com/F75.html). you get a carbon fork and tiagra/105 components for around $800.

Better yet, look at last year models. I got an Allez SE 02' , 105 with Ultegra RD and CF fork for 950$

Try a Specialized Allez Sport or a used Specialized Allez Elite. The Elite has better components but a used one will run up to $800 but a new one is under a grand. The Sport can be found new for under $800. Spending the extra money will be well worth it.

I recommend getting the best bike you can...
look for the best frame then look for the best parts. that your money can buy.
I would start at local bike shops, bike clubs and even ebay.
you will have to do a lot of reseach and still fine that your buget of
$600. is still to low. a $600-$800 road bike is heavy with parts that break down offend. but there are penty of people who will
love them.. I dont, no fun breaking down 40 miles from your car.
I would save and do reseach for the best bike I can get for the money.. just my .02

you could always spend a couple grand more and get a TREK 5900. :D

I bought a 2001 Trek 1000, used on EBAY for $350.00. It is Sora equipped which suits me fine for now, since Im just riding recreationally. I plan on upgrading it to 105 or Ultegra sometime before spring. If you know what you want, and your size, check out EBAY. Sometimes you can come across a pretty good deal there.
