Bicycle Mechanics - Batavus Cambridge Drum Brake Pads Need Replacing

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I need to replace the brake pads of my Batavus (make) Cambridge (model) bicycle. They're drum brakes, so I don't know what's inside until I take it apart and it would be most convenient if I could do that after buying the replacement pads. Apparently there are different types/shapes. I've looked to no avail for information online. I'm surprised (and very annoyed) that Batavus don't provide online manuals. I hope that someone here might have the same bike or knows where to direct me for information online. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.
Never heard of Batavus.
Where are you? (Please put location in your profile.)

I'm in the Netherlands.
Have you tried contacting Batavus or visiting one of their dealers?
Batavus often used Sturmey Archer hubs, both hubgear and drumbrake. I'm not sure about more recently though. If SA, you should be able to get the specific pad details (and parts) from SA Netherlands, they are very helpful.

This is of absolutely no use to the OP, but I've built up an '85 Batavus Competition frame. They do make their way into the US occasionally!
Actually, they imported to the U.S. in the 70s until the mid 80s. Apparently, they are planning a reintroduction of their products in the U.S.
Just a bit of Batavus solidarity...

Actually, maybe I can help. Batavus' customer service is very friendly. When I inquired about my Competition frame, they sent scans of all catalogue pages they could find on Competition frames. This was additionally impressive because Batavus was sold in 1986, but they were still willing to help with information.
So, my advice would be to contact them directly.

Is this still an open issue?
