Alright, my buddies and I just started road cycling a couple of months ago, and we all signed up for the Cool Breeze 60 in two weeks.
We've mainly been doing the SART from about Riverview GC to the Beach, and then on to the Pier or Balboa or whatever we feel like doing.
Today we went for 40, all the way to Harbor House. Ate a small midmorning meal at Woody's, and then all the way back.
Some observations and thoughts:
1) I pulled out the bibs for this ride and man, what a difference! It feels like you're wearing nothing at all (a la Flanders).
2) I recently got Sidi Mega Geniuses. I have really wide feet, and my feet are really picky about the type of shoes I wear (and they make me pay if I pick bad shoes). I'd say, these are truly worth the money, since riding in pain is no fun. I previously tried the Shimano 151 Wide, and although they fit me, they were too stiff and it was painful. The Sidis are also easier to walk in because of the rubber heel.
3) LEAN TO THE SAME SIDE YOU'RE GOING TO UNCLIP
4) I recently got fitted, and it made a difference in my ride. I still have neck pain from keeping my head up and a bit of saddle sore and lower back pain (bent here I come?).
5) Cyclists run red lights on PCH.
6) The fear of getting doored on PCH.
That is all.
