G`dday Bikeforums,

After 5 months of cycling i landed in the Netherlands last saturday!

The flight home from Hobart to Amsterdam was a bit of a marathon.
Do you know the feeling when you wake up, look at your watch and realise you just missed the only bus to airport!?.......

Lucky for me there where some taxi`s on the street (5 am) so i dragged myself + bikebox+bag in the cab and made it fast to Hobart Airport.
Its a very small airport with only two check-in counters, and with my overweight it was crucial to pick the right one!
I choosed the one with the nice blond girl.....WRONG, she noticed my bike and went strait to excessive luggage counter!
"280 $ dollars thank you" she said..........aaaaaarghh:crash:

(Note: Quantas counts 14 AUS$ / kg)

This was not a very nice start  but i arrived in Auckland without troubles, although i had to wait 33 hours before my flight to London.
Because i bought two separate flights i had to go through customs and biosecurity again.
I must say 33 hours is a long time on Auckland Airport.....

The next day i could finally make my check-in for the flight to London, but not before the aviation security searched my bag and bikebox!
Off course they found my fuel bottle and my tube with superbond and my bottle of chainoil!!!
I really wondered if i had a sticker on my forehead wich said " i`m a rich cyclist, please take my stuff"

The stop in LA was not bad at all, they finally changed the transit system and we only had to show our passport and wait in the transitlounge, much better!

London was a bit crowed, all the flights of British Airways where cancelled and i saw a lot of unhappy people there
My flight to Amsterdam left only 30 minutes late, not too bad if think of all this chaos on Heatrow.

In Amsterdam i was surprised to see my luggage on the belt, after all this traveling i expected nothing!
My family and friends waited for me on the other side, back to Lowlands again!!!

(total flight time: 27 hr / total wait time 34 hr)

Its really weird to be back, nothing is changed and its still crowed overhere.
The good thing is, the home-pc is fixed and it costs nothing use :D
I`ve made quiet some photo`s so i can finally udate my logue, unfortunatly this has to wait till i`m back from France!

(its really hard to loose this travel bug )

See you in 10 days!

cheers

Welcome back!

Bon voyage!

;)

I totally know what it's like to have that travel bug- nothing you can do but ride that wave until you crash....

Have a great trip!

I've started turning my headlight on during the trip home, soon you will have lots of time to work on entertaining us with pictures and stories. Have fun in France.
