I signed up as well :)
Tomorrow I'm riding the Tri-state tour up to Kenosha, WI. 85 mile ride.
I'm also thinking about signing up for the Hilly Hundred in Ellettsville in October. That seems to be a fun ride as well.

There will be four of us heading over for it from east central IL. I'm assuming it's pretty flat, roads straight and lots of corn and beans :)

Some gentle roll as well. Nothing major though.

Actually No :)
It will start off with Straight Roads and Corn and Beans then go into rollers and woods :)
It is actually a nice ride. Weather is suppose to be nice as well. I'm not looking forward to it though. I have been away on work so I've been off the bike 2 weeks. I think I am going to die during the ride.
I'm guessing there will be 2,500-3,500 feet of climbing which isn't much.

Hmm.. forecast for Sunday is 'Isolated Thunderstorms'.
Should I pack rain gear or just enjoy the rain during the 85 degree weather...
I'm going to drive on Sunday morning to Kokomo, planning on arriving at around 7am. Seems like the pack for the 100 miler is supposed to move by 8am.

Yep, I'll be carrying a saddle cover and a rain jacket in the HB Bag. Other than that, anything moisture sensitive, like my digital camera will be in a ziplock bag ;)

This will be my first Full Century. I did my first metric in July, so hopefully I learned a few things although I doubt I did.

Pace yourself, Hydrate right and keep the calories going in at about 250 cal/hr, in a low bulk form. Sip small amounts of fluid frequently so you don't build up a large volume to slosh in your stomach and watch your electrolytes.
Stretch yourself at the SAG stops and watch out for the "wall" around the 80 or 90 mile point. ;) Just push through it and finish the ride ;)

Do have one small warning. Our stupid street department redid some chip and seal this past weekend on like a 2-3 mile stretch, it was pretty loose Tuesday when I rode it. I hate they did it cause the road "WAS" nice until they did that. Rest of the ride should be good. Once we get to the Hilly Section you guys will love it I think.
I am always amazed that some pretty scenery is so close to my house :)

Yeah I hate some solid food and fruit for the 74miler and it upset my stomach. I think I may try just using goo and water this time.

You should experiment around a little bit. I normally have cliff bars and some gatorade with me.
In the salt department I normally munch on some chips or salted peanuts.
And bananas for potassium. Just eat little chunks while you're on the bike. Makes it easier to digest.

Keep a few saltines or something very light as well, or a Clif Bar. Sometimes you need a little bit of solid. Exclusive Ghu diet, if you aren't used to it can have explosive results. Shot blocks are also good, or Sports Beans from Jelly Belly.
I'll also be carrying some Glucose tabs in case of a hard bonk.
By the way, those dehydrated banana chips are a good source of potassium and very light weight, as long as you can handle them under exercise conditions.
Well we're getting ready to leave but if I get wet, I'm blaming Charlie Sk. on this one :)

Well, it was a great ride! I'll have my report up soon. scummer, it was great to meet ya!
Excellent ride, very well organized, the rain held off, great food at the end and excellent entertainment at the ole' grist mill. The routes were so clearly marked that only an idiot could have gotten lost, which explains exactly how we managed to add an additonal 8 miles that weren't scheduled for. Well done and we'll look forward to next year. :)
