My cycling shoes, that is. I mean they absolutely reek, like moldy bread with a bad case of gas!:crash: Other than the stench they're in good condition. Any tips on killing them? They tried to walk away from me the last time I put them on! I had to beat them with a baseball bat so they wouldn't eat my feet:eek: Can I use some common household cleaners to disinfect them? Airing them out or leaving them in the sun just seems to make it worse. Anyone?

Desinex powder every day for a week. Then once or twice a week for maintenance .. or get new shoes. :D

Good things those lil buggers are not at my house!

(Seriously, the advice above sounds good to me!)

haha..that's pretty stinky man..maybe you could soak it in water and let it air out good... how did it get that bad in the first place? did you ride in the rain a lot and just let it soak in a damp spot?

I'm not sure how they got like that. It was a gradual thing, I guess. The wet spring we had must have taken its toll. I'll try the Febreeze first. If that doesn't work, Desenex (but I thought that was for jock itch?). Last resort, fire (and new shoes).

Do you wear socks? If not, that could be the entire problem .. rotting skin cells in your shoes ... stinky.

Two things I do that seems to help with odiferous shoes.
After a ride I will remove the inner footbed and allow it to air out
and dry out (do this in well ventilated room).
I got these herbal shoe inserts (look like sewn feet) that I put into
the shoes, they absorb odor and help drying out the shoes.

works for me,
