Mountain Biking - 1 x 8 or 1 x 9 mtbs

Can someone tell me what manufacturers are making 1 x 8 or even 1 x 9 drivetrain mtbs? I've been thinking about converting mine to this and would like to see how they have theirs set up and with what components. Thanks.

I built up a 1x9 commuter, used a nashbar mtb frame, one XT 9spd shifter, and lx? 9spd cassette and derailluer. Threw on a square taper BB and a Sugino track chainring (48t) up front. She works great, sorry don't have a pic for ya (I'll get one soon)

Thanks. Is the MRP the only chain guide to use for these set-ups? Are they relatively quiet? Would a fixed front derailuer work? This is for a cross country hard tail rig only.

Posers run those set ups.They just buy that stuff then roll there bikes into a studio for pics.

No, there are plenty of offerings from e.thirteen, raceface, blackspire, truvativ, syncros (hi dminor), et al.

Yes, although MRP and e.thirteen are quieter than the others I listed.

I don't know - I've never tried it. I suspect it'd work, but you wouldn't have the guaranteed security of a full on guide system. I ride lots of rough terrain and it's worth it to me not to have to worry about it. YMMV.

I ran a 1×8 for Xc for a while and needed an outer bash ring and inner guide ring to Keep the chain on it. In rough terrain it would bounce off occasionally. You can get the inner ring @ UniversalCycles.cOM

All setups worked very well. If you plan on doing aggressive riding riding though, I would recommend a chianguide, E.13 SRS being my favorite.

I couldn't find an inner chainring on their site. I could only find the Jumpstop. What manufacturer is it? Thanks.
