Men CAT 5 Race:
"You have our permission to exit the race course."
Huh? I've never been pulled before, but I'm glad they did this day, because after 30+ miles my quads were starting to cramp and I was broiling under the humid sun. Just as I reached the start/finish, the line judge stated:
"You have our permission to exit the race course."
It didn't register at first. I probably had a perplexed look on my face, because he then stated that I could keep going straight to exit the course. Huh? Oh! I'm being yanked! :( :o
Oh well. I guess there is always a first time.
Did I mention that it was hot out there!

Atleast you were out there! It's better to have raced than to never have raced at all, I think? ;)

Overall, the PV RR was a nice race. Very well run and an awesome track. But, I was a little perplexed when I heard that some people were pulled from the races. On a ten mile course, people should be allowed to finish if they want to. Also confused that they cut a lap in the 3/4 race.
The heat made the race especially hard. I have never gone through 4 large bottles in a 40 mile race and I could have used one or two more. Did I mention it was hot.
It is odd that they were pulling people in a RR. It was so friggen' hot out, I was glad the officials decided to cut the 3/4 race short - there were only about 25 finishers anyway.
Was a fun course and the finishing climb was cauberg tough. Kudos to U of MD Velo for putting on a great event with neutral feed zone - I went through 4 bottles of my own + 2 more dumped on my head then handed off to team mates that I grabbed in the neutral feed.
9th place finish for me, kind of disappointing as I was in position to finish well, but just couldnt get my legs to cooperate. Payout was 8 deep.:(

Team BBC had their own water, but we were asked by the promoters to man the neutral water as well. Doing so was as much fun as the race.
I agree the course is a great course, but they need to move this race to a cooler time in the year.
Did I mention that it was hot out there?

no way they need races in the extreme weather so guys like me can look good for finishing.

How much longer, before you're back?
I'm glad you do well in the heat. For being part Filipino, I suck in the heat. Of course, I'm not on the water netting fish either. ;)

I will be back soon. Im hoping to be on the road again in 2 or 3 weeks and then racing a week or so later.
I do well in adverse conditions. Cold, heat, wind, etc... I dont know why but it makes me look like a better racer.
