So the Area has been having this 5 days of bicycle racing thing, and I upgrade to a 3 just before this event knowing it would benefit me for next season. But **** has this got me so discouraged in bicycle racing. I keep thinking I could have won all these cat 4 races, and its ok to get shelled I just got a road bike in december.

As a fresh 3 I've been entering 2,3 races and the competition has been super stiff, junior national crit champ, a couple of pro guys trying to get some upgrade points, canadian national junior champ.

And every race I get spit out the back 20-30 minutes in.

3 races in a row now I've been shelled and pulled, while I'm not the only one. I just wanted to complain and say congrats to a few BF members that have been sticking in these races.

Stay with it. It takes time to develop (cardiovascular/muscular) systems. You'll probably be saying the same thing about the 2's before long.

That sucks man...keep at it though. I took this week and went on a backpacking trip, and some big rides in the mountains instead of the Cross Roads series. It sounds like the races have been pretty messy. At least you didn't go down!

I did a TT yesterday, and I haven't seen the results yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I got DFL.

That's discouraging too.

Sometimes the break wins.

Next year will be amazing - I promise, just train hard this winter..

recneps: as you saw on Saturday, even those of us who have been hanging in most of those races don't always make it to the finish.

Crossroads 2/3 races had an incredibly high level of competition, harder even than the P/1/2/3 races I've done in Virginia Beach. I feel the same way you do on the emotional/irrational side, but at the same time you (we all) have to realize that the guys who were getting top 5s in these races are seriously fast 2s, and there's nothing wrong with not being able to hang with them at this point.

And like Snuff said, at least you didn't go down- I took care of doing that for you :)

I think he wants to transfer to Chapel Hill for 09 so we can build the Uberteam :D

Just to reiterate - I LOVE stoploss (http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-01-05-army-troops_x.htm).

Yeah, Spencer, Quentin, Noah, Dylan, and Pendry- that would be a pretty sick group when everybody's on form. Wish I could race collegiate with you guys, but hopefully I'll be your faculty advisor :)
