NoraFox Rides 19.2 Miles After Knee Replacement

NoraFox (my wife, of course), a BFN 50+ participant (well, at times) did her longest ride so far after her recent knee replacement - 19.2 miles this morning.

I am so frigging proud of her. She will be 70 in November.:beer:

My brother has 2 artificial hips, both done within the past 2 years by a doctor at St. John's in Santa Monica (California). He uses a different technique on a special table. The patient can walk without assistance just a few days after surgery, and no PT is necessary because this procedure does not cut any tissue.

Our doc has that same table - so if we ever need a hip replacement, he will be the one to do it.

My sister couldn't see her way to come to Denver where our docs are the only ones who do this procedure with this special table (she lives in NM), and has had all sorts of trouble after her hip replacement. The one our doc uses gives you tremendous flexibility, while she can't even cross her legs. It takes special training and the ability to pay the $$ for the table, and many docs don't want to bother.

Exactly. Supposedly they've used this technique in France for years. I wonder where else it is practiced here in the states.

I'm happy for your wife's success.... no doubt she is thrilled and cycling will make her leg muscles stronger to help support that joint.

Those are beautiful words, I love to hear a husband bragging on his wife. Congratulations to Nora, that is an awesome accomplishment, even moreso in light of her age and following a big surgery like a knee replacement.

I hope she continues to cycle and that you can both get out there together, too.
