Blew up on first set of hills trying to keep up with front of the peloton (stupid because I am a horrible climber).
More climbing:mad:

DNFed after first lap.
I'll save my energy for my track race Tuesday and TT on Wednesday.
Morals:
-Keep losing weight
-Keep riding hills and more hills and more hills and more hills

Raced in the 4's. OTB on the fist lap. Soloed on the last lap. DFL probably.
They should probably consider reducing the length by 1 lap, IMO.

I was also in the cat 4 race. Today had all kinds of hills. . . long first one, short steep KOM one, and that one you always forgot about towards the finish. I was in the top 20 until I got involved in the crash 100 ft from the finish.
frustrating.
Great day and great course though!

Did you bash up your knee?
I think I may have seen the damage.
A great course for sure, just a little too hilly for me on my first RR.
But I'll get too the point where it is not.
One thing I learned:
Riding hilly courses and racing hilly courses are way different.;)

That was more likely my teammate. I walked away unscathed.
I'm not sure at what cat the peloton actually learns this, but you watch the higher cats, or the pros on TV, and as soon as the full use of the road is permitted, everyone fans out. The sprint won't start until someone actually then pulls the trigger. I think what caused this crash was some people moving left over the line (which was fine as the finish was in sight), some not, and while this was going on everyone had already begun to sprint. I saw some sketchiness up ahead and before I knew it 2 are down right in front of me. You live and learn though- next time I think I'm in contention I'll try to position myself on the left side of the road with a clean line.
Burt yeah, those hills were killer! The pace set the second time around was brutal. I like to stay seated and I had wished I had a 12-27 cassette. Living in NH you should have plenty of hills to train on- just keep on riding up then faster and faster! I was over my LT on most of them- if you just go all out knowing that you'll be done in a min or two that helps.
And how about the guy who took a flyer and stayed there from the first lap?

I looked at the race results today...they placed me at 16th...
WTF? I DNFed and told them right after I pulled out. How do you mess that up?
