Well a freind of mine was going in the world fire fighting game next year in Brissie but the stupid goverment canceled it and lost $5 million on advertising.

Now is is looking to so s chartery ride for the Burns unit. He has asked me to do it with him.

Just wondering what I will need for a event like this? We are looking to ride between 1000-2000km. Probibly around the 1200km from Brisbane to Carins.

We are getting sponers and that. But condition will I need to be in. We are hoping to do some overnight rides first.

How long do you plan to take to do the ride? When I rode from the Gold Coast to Inverell and return, I aimed at around 100km/day. The overnight rides is a good idea, and it's best to do them fully loaded with all the gear you intend to be carrying on the ride, so you can try all that stuff out first as well.

One thing I will always recommend is to grab a cooler bag from a camping store, so that any fruit you carry (something I swear by) will survive the really hot days you are likely to encounter along the way.
