Looking for experienced head bicycle mechanic to help manage services of rapidly growing 1 yr. old year-round univ.-funded bike service center in the center of Mich. St. Univ. Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a head mechanic in a full-service bike shop. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to assisting the manager of the center in: ordering parts, repair scheduling, overseeing student mechanics (5 - 6), training new mechanics, maintaining tools, developing new services/ marketing strategies, higher-level repairs. This position is a full-time temporary* position with one of the campus labor unions with bidding rights on other union jobs.
Our Center is an outcome of a 4-yr. old volunteer-run bike project. The shop was built from scratch last year and features all the Park tools and other tools you’ll need bought new last year. It’s located in the heart of a 150 yr. old campus near the state capitol with plenty of affordable housing within easy commuting distance. Our campus is rapidly moving its infrastructure towards being one of the friendliest towards bicyclists in the mid-west if not the country. Come be a part of it!
Note: While this is classified as a "temporary" position it can be renewed indefinitely.
Compensation: $13+ / hr. plus vacation accrural
