Does a Super Randonneur series on fixed count?

I've done seven so far this season (including a double and two century and a halfs...halves...whatever) and usually average in the range of 16.5 mph, actually riding time. Yesterday was my fastest at 16.8, but it was a group ride that took a lot of breaks and it's total time actually made it my slowest ever.

pegleg you have done all of that riding on a single speed what kind do you have. thanks

I just did 200km overnight fixed wheel. I think a fixed wheel works better for long distace than ss, you can keep the momentum more easy. Choose the right gear and you will be fine. There are plenty of people that do 100 miles fixed, some even do pbp and LEL e.t.c.

Well i finely bought a ss a Bianchi Roger and thus far i have only gone 20 miles without stopping or 30 miles casually. Tommorrow i am going to check out my century route and see how far it takes me. I will let you know how it turns out.

I've done centuries and 200 milers on both fixed and single speed. On hilly routes, the single speed is always quicker.

i did the 2005 seattle to portland ride (200 miles) on a Bianchi Pista, but in two days. i toned down the gearing to 40x14, but my knees still hurt on the 2nd day.

the downside to a true fixed gear is that your knees really take a pounding, mostly from backpedaling/skidding (at least in my case, since i rarely use my hand-brake).

anyway, on the stp our first day was something like 7 AM - 3:30 PM (110 miles).

and the 2nd day was something like 7 AM - 2 PM or so. i'm guessing we held a 16-17 mph avg, somewhere in that range.

Well today i finly put some miles on the Roger 62.90 to be exact at 15.2 mph on a fairly hilly route with no problem. I did rt 117 out of waliham MA toward Leominster. I cant wait to do some longer distances to see how i handle it but i had a blast today.
