So I finally figured out that the old center pull MTB levers I was trying to put on some mustache bars would neither fit the bars without modification, nor do they pull the v-brakes I'm using enough to satisfy my concerns. What levers do I use?

Will these inline levers from Performance work?

Obviously they will work with the bars okay, but will they pull v-brakes okay?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure those only work with cantilevers and road calipers.

yeah... v brakes be funny. i'm racking my mind for an answer... but all the bikes i'm visualizing with v brakes have brifters.

+1 Those levers don't work with Vbrakes

Yeah, I kinda figured that. Oh well.....I think I'll just pick up a pair of mtb levers and take the carbide bur to them. I've done it before and it works fine. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

You can use Travel Agents to make V-brakes compatible with road levers:

I bought a used CX bike that came with V-brakes and road levers but i ended up just swapping to cantilevers (Avid Shorty 4 brakes).

This is probably the best solution. Travel agents are something of a pain.

You want Diacompe 287-V levers
They're the only road lever that works properly with V-brakes.

Or use travel agents.
or a different bar w/ MTB Vbrake levers
