Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Chain tensioner - anybody know where get one like this?

Hi everybody!

I've been looking for such chain tensioner for sheed loads of time.

Once I saw it on eBay but unfortunatelly lost bidding. Anybody got any idea wher can I get one like this?

What about Surly Tuggnut or MKS Chain Tugs?

Outside.

I have a wheel with allen skewers (replacing QR) and two cheap Bulletproof BMX style tugs. The combo works fine and chain tension is great.

You can adapt a lot of tensioners to work with horizontals.

edit:By the way it works fine but it isn't pretty. I'd reckon it'll be hard to find tugs as elegant as the ones you pictured.

This picture is of my mate's bike. He took this tensioner from old amsterdam ladies bike.
I'm also thinking about producing such device by myself but I'm not so handy in metalwork so I'm looking for some NOS or just Vintage part...

Ok, so we have determined that while the OP's picture was a brilliant looking solution, the Surly and MKS products will not work on horizontal dropouts. Someone please manufacture something that does.

A Surly Tuggnut works great with eyeletted horizontal dropouts and a quick mod.

I'm using two tensioners that look similar to this, but with only one hole.

They took no physical modding to make fit, but it's definitely a squeeze. It's like the planets aligned and it magically worked. For most scenarios there probably would be some chain link adding/removing or some dremel action.

The non-drive side tensioner doesn't do much of anything, I think, but it helps space the skewer. The drive side tensioner is doing all the work. Positioning these things on horizontal drops takes creativing, maybe even butchering up the drops. I got mine to sit between the hole (I guess it's designed for a derailleur or rack?) and the most curved part of the drop.

They are old 'Cyclo' ones I pick them up at bike jumbles usually £1 to £3 a pair

the ops talking about an axle tug, or something. calling it a chain tensioner is dumb is all im saying. probably a lost cause though.
