I will be attending a meeting at the Rogue River Regency motel in a couple of weeks. I want to strap a bike onto the car and get in 15 or so miles each day. I have lights, so riding after dark will not be a problem, although daytime would be my preference. Can a person cycle north on Biddle Road and Table Rock Road? Are they too heavily traveled or too narrow?

Thanks.

Both are do-able, but neither are particularly fun, due to heavy traffic. FWIW, both are in Medford, not Ashland. Medford is rather less cycle-friendly than Ashland is--so have fun, but be safe! I would head west out towards Jacksonville, myself, J-Ville is a cool little town, and the route it fairly rural once you're out of Medford. Have a look on Google maps.

Thanks for your help. I am corrected. The motel does have a Medford address. Somehow the meeting has been billed as happening in Ashland. Oh, well!

It looks like I might try to get over near Rogue Valley Mall and take Merriman up to Beall and then go out Old Stage Road to Jacksonville and back. I do not care where I go. I would just like to get some miles.

Thanks, again.

Being from Caldwell, you might not be bothered by heat ... but if you are, riding earlier in the day would be cooler than later in the day. Daytime temperatures above 100 deg F are common in Medford. Might be 10 deg cooler up in Ashland.

In 100 deg. temperatures I usually go at first light or late in the evening when temperatures have begun to cool. Thanks for the word of caution.

One concern we have in this part of Idaho is bites from mosquitoes that may be carrying the West Nile Virus. Is that a concern yet in Medford and Ashland?

I have not heard squat about West Nile virus in the valley, and I at least scan the Medford Mail Tribune (http://www.mailtribune.com) every day.

Probably a deliberate mistake, Ashland has way more cachet than Medford...
