Touring - Any one ship a hardcase bike box from starting point to end point?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have an S&S coupled bike and a hard-case bike box that (with a great deal of effort) I can get the uncoupled bike into. Up to now, I have either flown with the bike and box to a starting point and then returned to that same point for the trip home or I have had my wife fly with the box to my ending point.

I am considering a one-way trip where neither of these two options is available. As such, I was wondering if anyone with a hard case for an S&S coupled bike has ever shipped the (empty) bike box from the starting point to the ending point. If so, did you use UPS/FedEx? Was it expensive? Is there any advice you have for me?

Thanks,

Ray

Why not use a cardboard bike box? You can pick up a new one when you're ready to leave.

Have you booked a hotel/motel room at your tour's end point? They might be willing to hold on to a package that you ship to them, although they might want a fee for their time and trouble.

You can send things to Post Offices for later pickup. Go to your local PO and ask how .

I shipped to hard cases from San Francisco down to SD with UPS a couple of months ago. Cost me about 130 dollars.

130 dollars!!!!!! That's money for food and beer.

+1 for the cardboard box. I've done it many times now.
