Folks

I currently use clips. I can wear lots of shoes sometimes even boots 'cause I rode to the barn to ...

Are clipless really that much better?

TIA
Joe

Having ridden both I can say yes they are in my opinion. Takes a little to get used to but you cant go back once you use them.

Depends how far and hard you ride.
If you ride for sport or competition there is no argument, clipless are more efficient.
In my town, which has a strong and unbroken tradition of cycling, all the sport club riders use clipless, about 1/2 the touring club use them, 1/2 use toe clips, and amonst the general purpose utilty/get about town riders, very few use clipless, maybe 1/4 of the riders use toe clips, and most use platform pedals.

Clips on the Mtn Bike/General Purpose BIke,

Clipless on the road bike.

I like being able to just jump on a bike and go, without having to change clothes, shoes, etc. Great for going to the store or on a short ride when I don't wnat to spend most of my limited time "getting ready" with little time left to ride.

Shimano 324's would sort that problem.... I'm surprised they're not standard on hybrids.

The 324's are perfect or they sell platform clip ins for clipless pedals giving you the same feature as the 324's. Once you use the clipless it wil become instinct to use it.

Exactly! I'm implying from what you said there is a big advantage to the clipless.

I'll look into Shimano 324s thanks

I like clipless on my road bike, and clips on my mountain bike. I am not a serious MBiker, I prefer very non technical trails, preferably straw, asphalt, and the likes. That pretty much sums up why I enjoy road biking.
