I was inspired to start this thread after seeing someone post pictures from my neck of the woods in the "go for a ride and take a picture" thread. Even though I haven't lived here in many, many years, I still consider it to be "home."

That's my Dad out there :) When I was little, the coolest thing EVER was getting to ride with him.

I got soaked seconds after I took this...that "mist" in the distance is actually a sheet of incoming rain.

Thanks for indulging me. I have a huge case of homesickness. Does anyone else have pictures from wherever they consider "home"?

Because the Scow isn't rigged and it's up on the lift. I wanted to get some better light as well.

My Paradise:
I was born and raised on the Gold Coast, Queensland, AUSTRALIA :)

The Gold Coast is an incredible city which has World Heritage Listed Rainforests and has one of the worlds greatest surfing beaches. Our sandy coastline stretches 42 km's and includes my favourite beach; Burleigh Heads Beach. (approx 1.5 km's from my house)
Our city also has the worlds tallest residential tower (Q1) and the unique area was created by the worlds biggest Volcanic Caldera.

We have first class hotels including the only Versace Hotel (http://www.palazzoversace.com.au/)in the World.

First of all:

hey giantcfr1, what falls are ^^^^^ those? It looks like Lamington Nat Park area but I don't recognise the falls themselves. Nice shot of the crimson rosella too.

I was always a sunny coast boy though... Gotta love noosa

Not my photo though :( If I had somewhere to put photos online I'd put up some of my regular ride around the Brisbane river.... a job for tomorrow.

Disregard... I didn't see the Springbrook sign below. Figured it out now :)

I now live in a very different paradise. I now live in Kyoto in JAPAN.
Kyoto was the capital of Japan before Kyoto.
We have over 3000 temples and shrines in this city, and is a visual cultural delight.
Kyoto has the only Maiko and Geiko in Japan, and I have been lucky enought to be invited to dine with a Maiko.

No no, the sign is misleading. The falls are Purlingbrook Falls. The rosella was actually at Springbrook.
I do love Noosa, as it's another special place to escape.

BTW, a little cooler there in Brisbane now?? How's the drought going?

Yeah its been a cold winter by Brisbane standards, a couple of days of frost and maximums in the low teens. We're back in a warmer spell at the moment which suits me. The drought is still going, we've got 17% in the dams and level 6 water restrictions will kick in sometime in September if we don't get some significant rain soon (which we won't of course, its the wrong time of year). It doesn't look THAT dry at the moment as we had some OK rains at the beginning of winter, though its only a matter of time before its all brown once again :(

The only historical significance (as far as I'm concerned) is that my Dad was born there in 1931 and died there in 1996. :(
