Hi!

I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any advice that you could give me regarding purchasing a tri bike. I've been looking at a Iron Horse Triumph TRI. It's in like new condition and has only been rode one time. It has mostly Shimano components and an upgraded seat. It also has the tri handlebars. I'm new to triathelons but I know that I don't want to compete in another race with a mountain bike. :). I felt like I was going backwards compared to the road and tri bikes.

I can get this bike for $700 but I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not. Please let me know your opinions on this deal.

Triumph, Motobecane Nemesis, Fuji Aloha, I'm pretty sure they are all the same frame, the Nemesis goes for $1,000, the Fuji a few hundred more, so if this is in excellent shape, your getting a decent price.

Thanks for your reply! The bike is in mint condition. Only was used a couple of times. I talked the guy down to $625 from $700. Sounds like I'm getting a good deal too. Thanks again for your input!

Hi Garfield Cat!

I didn't have the bike fitted. I was told by a few people that If the bike isn't causing you any pain or numbness, than it's probably o.k. I'm not sure if that's good advice, but I did a triathlon on the bike yesterday, and I felt good. As a skier, I know how important it is to have your ski boots custom fitted, so this probably also would apply to your bike. Could you give me an idea about what to expect to pay for a bike fitting?

Depends upon the bike shop and if they know how to set up a tri bike fitting correctly for you. I have heard from $75 to $200.

Moto is usually 2-3 year old Fuji. Ironhorse is a different frame though. Close, but different.
