The second group of SSP racers were definitely better. The Smash-up derby set had little buttons that made the wheels and doors fall off.

I remember having a toy where you needed to "weld" plastic girders together to build a car w/ a hot soldering thing. It was awesome.

Note the picture is from a <sob> toy museum!!!!! Oh ... the horrors.

Also check - they just did a massive recall on those things, evidently - and even with an extra part to put in the oven - kids are still putting their hands in there - it's the ones with filaments for heating vs. ye ole lightbulb.
