Foo - Yay We Just Met Pheard!

Joe and I were walking to a jeweler to get our fingers sized and I got a call from Jon who just happened to be in our neighborhood! We spent the next few hours hanging out, chatting, and getting into mild shenanigans! :)

Oh, and I got to talk to Siu on Jon's phone! She sounds like such a doll! :)

Ummm we missed out on taking some really cool temple pics. :( He did take a pic of all of us when he came to our place for a minute, but I'm afraid he'll have to produce that.

It was very surreal for me, because naturally since I've seen tons of pictures of them but never met them when I saw this hippy and this cute young lady walking down the street it was like seeing a movie star or something. Thanks for hangin' with my heather and Joe, it was nice to meet the "creator". Dun dun dun.... Anyways, we were gunna go for a ride, but once we got to the loft my friends called and we had to go. So close.... I got one picture.

I hate to burst your bubble, but most of my friends ride road bikes. ;) In fact, I just finished getting the garage re-organized for my housemate to have the space build a cyclocross frame FG... Joe and Shadiyah seemed to be having so much fun bunnyhopping in the rose gardens, though. Perhaps you should bring a mountain bike. On the other hand, Portlanders would truly appreciate the unconventional, nonconformist aspects of your Moots. :)

I was in that building last week, at a wedding reception. It was uber creepy. Hadn't been in there since it was the Hotel Utah, many long years ago. Used to be a very nice, old hotel.

The architecture is really gorgeous, actually! As are a lot of the neat, historic buildings in the metro area. It's just the vibe that is creepy. Maybe its the huge statue of Joseph Smith in the front area. When did it become the JSB? I'm going to take a wild guess in assuming that you didn't get to see the actual wedding ceremony?

I think the building was turned into offices about 15 years ago. Used to have lunch in the restaurant with my grandmother when I was a kid....a number of years ago. And you're right on the money--I was unable to attend the ceremony.

Shadiyah was dressed immodest according to the standards of the mormon church, so she didn't want to go inside. Everyone stared at her, and all the old men greeters were greeting her. As we walked out we both were laughing and mumbling something about how awkward it was for her. Joe wouldn't even come inside. :p

So what goes on in that building?

It's just like a building dedicated to Joseph smith. There is a family history center, paintings, sculptures of Joseph Smith, a floor that shows a movie of the restoration, etc.

It's not the building itself that's creepy, it's just that it's full of Mormons. ;) I've always wanted to get really drunk and go take a tour of the JSMB (don't forget the memorial part of the name) or the temple grounds. Do you think they'd throw me out just for being drunk if I could manage to not be overly obnoxious?

Dang, I was in Salt Lake City last week. Should have given you two a call.

Got the tour of the city and we even went up Emigration Canyon and ate at a little diner called Ruths. There were bicyclists all over the place and I was wishing I'd had brought mine.

I haven't riden up Emigration yet (Only seriously riding this year and I'm not much for climbing, besides, the whole damned thing is under construction!) but I second Ruth's, great place!
