If you mean Barry Bonds....he can take his steroid ridden butt far away. I hope they strip every record he makes.

Yet another over-simplification from Raynda on something he isn't interested about.

Listen bonds clearly used steroids, look at the pictures before and after. Is he the greatest hitter of all time? It's hard to deny his talent at making solid contact. Is he a cheater? I don't really know, pitchers are likely just as guilty as batters. You know why i really don't care about this? Barry Bonds is the biggest ass hole in professional sports...he has brought this on himself.

My sentiments were aptly summed up by an acquaintance of mine after being offered free tickets to an Orioles game a few years ago:

Baseball?....<slightly lowers left hand, like it's one side of a scale>

Death? ... <right hand>

Death? ... <right hand>

Baseball? ...<left hand>

<longer pause>

I'll go with Death.

Oooooooooo I'm with ya on the procrastination thing.

When someone I love is broken and I can't fix it.

Witnessing betrayal.

People who lie.

Those who hurt others because they themselves are unhappy.

Being in the position of helplessness when seeing others suffer.

Oh. And having to fix Jon's bike on every ride we went on.

But you are a fan of Bonds? Interesting.

I am interested in baseball, but I think the overemphasis on the drug thing is out of control. it's spectacle and entertainment, let them do what they want, they aren't hurting anyone but themselves

sounds like more people have a problem with barry's personality than with his drug use actually. well no one like ty cobb much either, but it didn't mean he wasn't a good ball player

For some...most, i'd say...the entertainment is a result of the fact that these people have natural ability that is freakish. When that natural ability becomes un-natural, for many, the entertainment is lost.

I'm curious-do you feel the same way about the TDF? Also, would you feel the same way if your hs age son told you he wanted to take steroids because, afterall, it worked for Barry?

Not really. I'm a fan of SAN FRANCISCO!!! :D And the Giants, of course, are from my hometown!! (Heck, I can't even name anyone else on the team...:o) That is why you guys slamming him doesn't effect me! Woo Hooo!! :roflmao:

We were down there this weekend Sui. Caught the A's-Angels game on Saturday and then went out to dinner at A16 with my GF's college room mate and her bf for her B-day. Ate a ton of food, drank a lot of wine. Went to Mojito's after for some more partying....had quite the weekend.

Yeah that is what I comapred it to as well. The last big career record to fall and it was a much bigger deal. Thought that was kinda starnge, almost like the Giants were embarassed by the whole thing.

timmyquest
08-07-07, 10:59 PM

For starters, because that's what he said...i'm inclined to believe him.

Aside from that, think about it. He didn't actually like going through it to begin with. He feared for his life over the matter. Aside from that, he is a feeble old man, what makes you think he wants to travel across the country flying from city to city every night just to relive something that really didn't make him happy to begin with? Especially when you consider the way the press would throw themselves at them, not like they did the Maris family like they did in '98, but in the context of today...drugs cheating etc.

He just didn't want anything to do with it, he's old, it's in his past life, he doesn't care. It's that simple. Anyone who knows anything about the man knows this...I'm not saying he respect Barry Bonds, i can't know...but i do think it has nothing to do with it.

Baseball died for me in 2002. The All-Star Game ended in a 7-7 tie because the teams ran out of pitchers. Whatever. Thanks but no thanks. I'm more at home watching bike vert or freestyle motocross.

Oh come on. It is very natural for a 36 year old man to go from being a small guy to lookin like he stepped off of the pages of Muscle and Fitness. He just started eating right and working out. No way he ever used anything other than Flaxseed oil. Give him a break.

There was quite a bit of talk about Bonds on the radio out there. Personally the way I see it he is a cheat but like a lot of dopers they are talented cheats anyway. Who knows what he could have accomplished with out the drugs - thats the sad part.

BTW to those of you who say he is a real big assohle why? I really don't know so I am just curious. I quit following baseball a long long time ago mostly after all those strikes...

Most anyone who has ever crossed his path has said the same thing. Egotistical, standoffish, prick. It's not just the image he portrays of himself in the press but even those he works with.

One of my trainers in football actually worked with him during a spring training and said the same of him, this was before i really knew much about him.

350+ HRs after turnig 35 years old. That's more than a little suspicious(and more than Bobby hit in his career).

If you acknowledge this(756) as a record, I've got a bridge you can buy.

Incorrect.

Taking steroids though is cheating, just like corking a bat and should not be celebrated in any way.

Also, Sadaharu Oh has the record at 868.
