Road Cycling - High school cycling teams?

Are there any areas where high schools have cycling teams? I know that if mine did, I would have joined, as long as it wasn't during soccer season. :)

I think theres probably good readon there's not. Where would you practice safely? And where would you compete?

I have heard that this is extremely rare because of liability issues -- hs students are minors, and "cycling in traffic is dangerous." You do get hs age track riders where there's a velodrome nearby.

I run cross-country, and we often run often roads...so no biggie there. I think it would be really cool if there was a cycling team at my school, but it'll never happen. The main reason is $$. Football gets their own equipment, as does lacrosse, so I think that high-school cyclists woould expect to have their bikes supplied. there wouldn't be enough money for that.

we did have a cycling club at our school for a while, but all the member graduated, and the club sponsor was transferred to another school. I probably wouldn't be in it anyway, becuase I run three seasons...

Thats it,money.We just cut busing for jocks to games.Schools in cal. are in deep do do.Oh but the suit and ties down town are doing just fine thank you.

The University of Kentucky has a road racing team. One of our local students recently made the team, without having the benefit of being on a high school team.
