What's your favourite carb-loading meal(s)?

For breakfast it's whole wheat bread, honey, oatmeal with fresh fruit.
For lunch or dinner it has to be pasta with home made tomato sauce.

A homemade tuna pasta salad or plain ole spagetti with meat sauce.

In this, the golden era of on-bike nutrition, I barely even think about carb-loading. I'm not saying that it's not important to make sure you are "topped off", just that I worry more about making sure I get my 250 cal/hr while riding.

That said, I've always been a pasta guy. Usually penne or shells, with veggies and a little fresh tomato sauce. I don't like cream sauces, and I try to stay away from too much cheese -- but a good smoked mozzarella will usually reel me in.

Home made wheat bread and honey. I usually prefer to tear off a hunk of the loaf instead of slicing it, toast it in the oven until it's slightly crisp, and dip each bite in honey.

Either that or dried figs dip'd in honey.

Pasta. An LD cyclist buddy of mine has to have 3 hot dogs with buns the night before. Whatever works. I drink a jar of flavored maltodextrin mix in the morning, about 2 hours before a big ride. But I don't "carb load," either. Just top off the tank.
