What are the production single speed CX frames?
I just know of the IRO, Bianchi, Specialized, and the Sulry kind of (horizontal drop outs.)

is this a race frame?
if it's only ss you can use a tensioner with any frame.

Race frame. I want a single speed for really nasty muddy courses, and serve as a pit bike. So I want to find something without eyelets and stuff like that.

Van Dessel Country Road Bob has eyelets for fenders and a RD hanger with cable mounts, but it's setup from the factory as a SS with flip-flop rear. It has cantilevers. Dunno how you are defining a race bike though.

The track-ends are not as important as being able to get factory wheels. The ENO hub is innovative and ranks up there with the cool factor, but I'm not convinced it's a cost effective solution for a race set up nor durable enough. I could be wrong...
And don't take it the wrong way folks, hub-based and chain tensioner solutions are both good ideas and I appreciate all the replies. So thanks everyone.

it hurts to say, but nyc bikes might have exactly what you're looking for:
i've personally had a couple bad customer service experiences with this company, and several others on this board have as well. they wont be getting any of my money, i'll leave it at that.

Cost-effectiveness, depends on a number of factors obviously. But using a tensioner or eccentric hub would open up a whole range of used/sale frames rather than the small number of SS-specific cross frames.
I've ridden a San Jose, I think it's a great bike. Stock gearing a bit high, but that's easily changeable. Last season I raced a Steamroller, it will be my pit bike this year. Clearance is an issue for bigger tires, tho.
you can get a Gunnar with track ends. and a Milwaukee. also, Seven cycles and Serotta, while both known for custom bikes have "production" bikes in stock sizes that you can get "customized" to be ss. and so does IF for that matter, and spot. all of the above, with the exception of the milwaukee are raceworthy (ie. light). if you are patient and look hard enough you might find a kelly knobby x on ebay/craigslist.
