Well, I see nothing has changed. It was a bit chilly this morning coming in, clear blue skies and a blinding low sun, and a VW golf passed me, there was light frost obscuring the windscreen and the driver hadn't bothered to clear anything other than a letterbox slot.

Now it's difficult enough to see when the sun is v low, but with that viewpoint must be near impossible!

What's difficult about taking two minutes to clear your windscreen?

chewa,
It's called "I'm late" or "I'm too lazy".
Just keep your eyes open for these idiots.

Another month or so and I'll be faced with the same problem from stupid motorists.

I'm was faced with a motoring primate problem of a different kind last night. It's called "I'm a stupid colourblind f*ck who can't tell the difference between red and green"

Re: the changing of the seasons.

Summer is on it's way: we had our first mozzies of the season this week. <sigh> it was good while it lasted.

If you'd asked me on the climb of the Burringbar Range on Sunday, I would have told you that summer was already here. Actually, this summer might just be a bit of a shocker. I noticed the flame trees flowering the other day. That doesn't normally happen until around November or December.

Hi ChrisL, I know this is slightly off topic but as a horticulturist I was interested in the Flame tree flowers, were they really flowering well or just ok?
Flame trees[I][Brachychiton acerifolius] flower ok each alternate year and flower spectacularly every 7 years. So if your trees are in a 7th year flowering period they woud be magnificent.
Enough of my ramblings, it was good to read that you enjoyed your ride':D'

Here in the midwest we have the same problem with frost. People only scrape off a little (if that) of their windshield. makes it dangerous for every one.

They do it here in Atlanta also. $50K+ cars with full windshields of frost going 55mph in the 45mph zone -- my definition of more money than brains :)

At least winter is short here.

They looked to be flowering pretty well on Sunday, but everything was in full bloom in the hills around Mullumbimby. It truly was a magnificent ride that day. The flame trees were the most noticeable (they are the bright red ones, right?), but there was stuff in a million different colours out there. This is basically my favourite time of year to ride, just before the summer heat fully sets in (despite the magpies).

Chrisl! (despite the Magpies).

Whats your problem with Magpies.
I enjoy these "cheeky chappies" of the skies.

Reminds of a camping trip a couple years ago . we left a loaf of bread under the auning of the tent
Woken up early in the morning by an almighty squabling , we jumped up to look out and see the remanants of our loaf being greedily fought over by 3/4 magpies . We had to laugh despite being deprived of our breakfast.

The weather here is awesome!!! perfect for riding all day. I am getting my rigid fork tomorrow so I'll be back in business. Unfortunetly none of my buddies can go MTB riding cuz they are all on six-ring standby, and where we go riding we can't get cell-phone service.

I think the problem is a lack of patience.

Hurry, hurry, hurry! No time to wait for the windshield to defrost!

I've never had to wait for anything to defrost in my life (although it did snow once, briefly, at Werris Creek). What's that like?

:)
