Does anyone know how to tighten up the stem on the Dahon Helios P8? It seems that after about 2500 miles the stem has a little too much play in it. The manual instructs on how to tighten the lever that locks the stem in place, but not on any adjustments that will tighten up the stem so it doesn't give. I presume there's supposed to be some play in it and I could even be wrong that it's gotten looser. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
Assuming you have a 2005+ stem:
Flip open your stem,
note the little white plastic/delrin block
observe the metal nut in front of it (if I recall)
using small spanner/wrench, or even a large pair of tweezers or something, turn that nut one face
(i.e. if one face is flush at the top, then turn it until the next face is at the top... small increments)
I forget which way tightens and which way loosens, but it really should be pretty obvious when you re-secure the handlepost. If you turned it the wrong way, just turn it back the other way...
If it comes loose frequently you might want to apply a little medium grade thread-locker (loctite etc)
Not the permanently-fused/high grade stuff though! ;)
