Hey everyone, I'm planning a really long trip to New Jersey probably the week of August 20th. I'm heading from school for the last week of summer! In any case, this is a very very long ride, and I'm budgeting at least 3 days for it. My big problem now is the route. I live in Baltimore so all routes starting there is ok. However, my destination (home) is this random, middle of nowhere place in northwest New Jersey. I'm planning to pass through Philadelphia on the way.

So the question is, does anyone know a nice, safe, (as non-hilly as possible) touring route from Baltimore to Philadelphia? After that, what's the safest way to cross the Delaware without dumping me into the mountains? Home is in Flemington, NJ, just to give a general location.

I found this route on bikely: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Philadelphia-to-Baltimore-Direct however, it seems to take route 1 almost the entire way up. I enjoy the nice wooded trails more, and route 1 probably has more traffic. Does anyone have any input on this route? Is it safe?

Thanks in advance!

Haha, I was specifically trying to avoid the water gap, that place has some SCARY hills! Also, where do I get those maps? Do I have to pay for them? Also, the proposed East Coast Greenway route looks very pleasantly flat... Any chance I could take advantage of what's laid down there? Or does anyone know any good routes from Baltimore -> Wilmington -> Philly? I found a pretty good route going from Philly into NJ right next to my home, so I'll probably be heading through Lambertville.
