Hey, Check out this Century if you're in the Ulster/Columbia/Dutchess area. I think it's the 1st year the Mid Hudson club is doing the ride. It's on Sunday August 26th.
Registration is cheap & the ride will most likely be rolling to hilly.

This was an amazing ride. Beautiful scenery, lush rolling hills, farmlands, pine forests, small towns and a loop around the Ashokan Resevoir. Really, really pretty ride. Low traffic roads, well marked & organized. Excellent job by the Mid Hudson Bicycle club (midhudsonbicycle.org).
Good rest stop, cheap registration and not at all crowded. 120 riders total on the 25/50/75/100 mile routes.
I did the 100 route & it was great. Lots of rolling hills and grades in the first have. Beautiful views around the Resevoir. I met up with a guy & we did most of the ride together.
One bizarre incident: We're pedaling on a stretch of a busy 2 lane road. There are a few houses with lawns all the way up to the road. No sidewalk. A family is out in their front yard playing with their dog, a Whippet (basically a minature Greyhound). The dog sees us, and comes racing straight at us. The family yells "NO! NO!" but the dog keeps coming. We veer out a bit, but the dog bolts into the street, running right between my front tire and the rear wheel in front of me. Then he runs in front of the leader's wheel, and then back to the lawn. Phew, right? Nope. The dog comes back for seconds.
He does the exact same thing AGAIN!
Miraculously, we didn't crash and the dog wasn't diced in the bladed spokes of either bike.
The owner's continued to chase the dog around their front yard as it barked happily. We were in shock & couldn't speak for a couple of minutes after that.
