Mountain Biking - Stanchion Color

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Out of curiosity, does the color of the stanchion make any difference? I've seen black, silver, light Gold, and dark gold colors being used on the stachions.

A red stanchion would be the fastest stanchion. Aside from that, not sure.
Black is black anodizing; silver is either chromed steel (cheap forks) or anodized aluminum; gold, both dark and light, is usually ti-nitride coating (as on Manitous and RSTs...and higher-price twist-drill sets) which is a hard-anodizing that is reputed to help with seal wear and stiction because of its slippery nature.
it seems that fox has a strong preference for gold, while marzocchi has many black ones
It's all a bling thing really. I may be wrong, but Marzocchi's black may be carbon-nitride rather than just black anodizing. Same purported benefits as Ti.

What i mean is that the colour doesnt necesarily mean that someone is a poser or wannabe (poseur is french keep it there).
Right. Because those comments are serious.

Completely...its how the world works my friend different colors have different traits and some colors make people better or worse than other people just like bikes...if i wear a red shirt today i will tend to walk faster than the people around me unless someone around me is wearing a red shirt also thats when it moves to the pants...

A poser is someone who poses. Models are posers.
A poseur is a person who pretends to be what he or she is not. Although the word has French origins, this is the correct spelling of the word meaning "wannabe".

"Poseur" seems rather affected - just like the way a poser would spell it.
I'm going to play it safe and go with "pozer" from here on out.

I like the "z" in it. it add some bite to it. just like the use of "x" in sux.
Also, i like the word with "u" in it. kind of exotic.
so for me..its "pouzer"....
