As some of you might have gathered, I'm not a fan of Shimano parts (because of the global domination and restriction of choice resulting from their markleting) , preferring Campag if possible, and certainly a mix of what I consider to be the best bits for any one job.
At present the only Shimano parts on my commuting frame are chainring bolts, bought in an emergency because they were the only ones which fitted my Stronglight C/set I could get in a hurry!
The pedals on this bike were MKS GR8 pedals and I've just had to replace them as the creaking noise from the left one(which has been driving me daft for months, and which I've tried several times to fix and been successful for only short periods) was caused by a pit on the bearing surface.
Now, these pedals have been on my bike, and the one before it, for a period in excess of 20 years and goodness knows how many miles.
They would probably still be on the bike and performing faultlessly if I hadn't lost an end cap about a year ago and not been able to get a replacement.
Anyway, I've replaced them with you've guessed it..................................Shimano?
No, of course not! MKS GR9 pedals.
If these are ok I'll be looking to replace them in 2025!:D :D
