You don't.

That would be so insanely useless, it would be incredible.

look at the specialized P.1 from 2005

mtnbk3000
08-08-07, 09:46 PM
my question i guess is, is it possible to do so or does the frame need a special mount

wethepeople
08-08-07, 09:48 PM
Frame needs a mount, and the p-series bikes are useless.

mtnbk3000
08-08-07, 10:14 PM
oh really, thats why my P.2 is awesome

wethepeople
08-08-07, 10:25 PM
P2's suck for mostly everything, every P-Series bike does.

They feel like ass in the trail, handle like ass while trying to do techy stuff and don't belong in a skatepark.

Stop being a little girl and get a BMX bike if you want a gyro.

MTB's are for like dh racing and and cross country crap. Not riding doubles and skateparks.

Let's not everyone judge Mtb's by some stupid offerings from Specialized, or Crackandfail.

Check out Eastern26, Norco, and atomlab. Thank you.

Wow, Urban mtb's are like the same thing as a bmx bike, I don't even know why you would say that.

How the hell are they the same? Nothing about them is the same except sometimes the frame material.

Everyone around here has P1's. Some have P2's and one has a P3. Allllllll awful bikes to ride. I'd have one to get to work though.

I want to see you back up that claim, but I have a feeling you're going to ***** out and just not reply.

What I am getting at is that a lot of urban mtb'ers and ultimately bike are designed with the same spirit as a bmx, as in they are designed with short wheelbases, tough frames, or what have you. If you look at a rider like guy marsh or anson wellington, they are for the most part bmx riders, they just ride different bikes, I honestly don't understand what you see as so fundamentally different when it comes to bmx and a mtb designed for urban use. I ride an eastern nighttrain26, it has a bmx casette hub, it has a 20mm thru axle, it has holes for gyro tabs, and it has disc tabs, it shares a lot between BMX and mtb's, it feels as much like a bmx to ride as most anything could with out being a bmx bike, which personally I haven't really ever found my self that comfortable on.

08-14-07, 11:18 AM
Well how can it feel like a bmx if you don't like the feel of a bmx but you do the urban mtb. I have nothing against urban mtber's, you guys can do what you want. It just seems pointless to me to sacrifice tricks, style and feeling for a bigger bike

epschoenly
08-14-07, 05:24 PM
I mean that I like the way the front end and such on a MTB feel longer, but it feels similar in terms of CS length. And, i totally understand what you are saying about saraficing somethings for the bigger bike, but honestly, I really love the feel of an MTB on some singletrack or doing skills park type of stuff which I can't get on a bmx.

Cant be the guy who uses suspension, big wheels and disc brakes to ride a skate park.

epschoenly
08-16-07, 09:48 PM
Ok, so yeah, dodged that like a politician, but yeah, I mean, I just understand why you instigate something and then just be a hypocrite. I mean I don't think that biking is about proving how tough one is, if I like the relative comfort of my MTB because I can ride 10-15 miles and have more fun doing it then on a road bike, and I am not killing myself on 20'' wheels(And I wholeheartedly understand that it is possible to go cross country on a bmx if you wanted, but I would rather have some wheels that rolled better). I didn't **** all over the style of bike you ride, and I don't know why most BMX cats feel like MTB's deserve it.

wethepeople
08-16-07, 09:50 PM
Because BMX's are often put on the back burner and ignored because MTB's are trying to pull off tricks we've mastered years ago.

epschoenly
08-17-07, 01:33 PM
Hmm, I have never really gotten that feeling before, are you talking about like in bike magazines or something or like the internet? But yeah man, I an understand that, and believe me, most guys on mtb's have nothing but respect for all the bmx guys out there who are always riding stuff that most folks wouldn't even try.

Yeah, except we don't need Azonic body armor, a fullface, and shocks to jump down a five-stair.

And I don't have a problem with mountain biking, hell, I race DH and have more in MTB's then I ever had in BMX.

But I hate them in the parks trying to snake us, giving us lip for 'not having real bikes' and generally acting like they're better. It's the pinkbikers that piss me off.

BMX had started on a downswing well before mountain bikes became popular, if that's what you're implying. Now BMX is big again. Skating has followed the same pattern. So has DH MTB racing, for that matter. For whatever reason, the popularity of those sports runs in cycles. It doesn't mean any of them killed each other, or that any of them were ever dead.

BMX as a sport was downsizing because of the "freestyle" craze. When mountain bikes came out it pretty much drove it into the ground. the local bike shops dropped their bmx lines in favor of mtbs and everyone I knew dumped their 20 inchers.

and tbqh, I don't care for the mtb movement because when I think of mtbs, I think of them on top of suvs, stopping at starbucks with eddie bauer bags flying out of the back. Sorry.

You and wtp both seem to share the notion that prejudging someone based upon the type of bike they ride makes sense - and it doesn't. If there were no such thing as mtb's, he would still have freds snaking lines at the park. If there were no such thing as Starbucks, poughzeurs would find somewhere else to cruise. And if they stopped making girl's jeans and t-shirts, BMXers would still wear clothes.

I'm not prejudging anything.
When I see mountain bikes around town they are on the top of suvs sitting at starbucks. Eddie bauer bags are optional.
Now I think that mountainbikers are a little sensitive as well.

fuzzbox
08-17-07, 05:54 PM
poughzeurs? I believe it's posers. And the people who wear girl's jeans and tshirts are skaters. Mtbs at a skatepark is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

I really like the way you use the collective "we" to represent the opinion of BMXers when only two weeks ago, you'd been out of the sport for over eighteen years.

There are skaters who feel the same way about twenties.

What are your thoughts on 24's for street/park riding?

No, not exactly. If it's on a bmx that's pretty much the most pointless unless your old and ride to the store.

I'm sorry but every MTB rider I've seen at the park has been a total asshat with no style whatsoever. They snake lines, act rude as hell, hack, and don't respect the basic rules of the park. Hell, DYLAN TREMBLAY! Would not leave our bowl, insisting that 'us bmx riders' should go find somewhere else to ride. He rode for a solid 35 minutes in our bowl, just pumping around acting like the king supreme hippy he is.

Also, I guess board shorts and an Azonic shovel t-shirt with either a ball cap or a fedora aren't real clothes then

I have no problem with MTB riders, hell, if I didn't snap my Jamis a few days ago I would be riding the hills more. I just have a problem with pinkbikers and people who snake me at the park.

They try to mimic our style, and fall short a few feet away from crappy. Only things that have left me floored at what a 24" can do was one fellow who was doing brakeless g-turns and other crazy spins on the pyramid at our park. any time he left the ground he was about as graceful as a brick in the wind.
