i have a 1998 GT LTS-2000 theres a pic of the rear. the company went out of business but i wanted to upgrade to disk brakes. im wondering if theres any kind of bracket or mount i can bolt on or weld on to attach a rear disk. thanks.
There was a company that made a aftermarket add on for frames, not sure how much I would trust it though it screws up and locks you're rear tire while barreling down a mountain but I could just be paranoid :) How about just adding a front disk and stick with V's in the back. Since your front is your primary brake on a bike would make a big difference.

They make an adapter that mounts to your V-Brake boss...

I woudn't reccomend it. I have read stories (particularly on trials sites) about riders who have put discs on non-disc MTBs. When the frame is not beefed up enough in that area, it breaks the frame. don't do it, man.

I am just building a new bike with an 8" disc in the front and a v brake in the rear (also frame restrictions). Quite honestly i rarely "feather" my rear brakes.. they usually just flat out lock up; V-brakes have a ton of power, they just lack the modulation, but in the case of a rear brake i think this modulation capability is lost.
AtomLab makes an adapter for disc brakes on bmx bikes (requires a flipflop hub), you can check it out at www.danscomp.com), however this kindof requires a singlespeed bike (and a new flipflop hub)

You also need to switch hubs.
I wouldnt recomend it.
If it wasn't designed for Disc's, why put them on? Asking for trouble IMO.
