After 6 races (5 RR, 1 Crit), I have finally joined a team. Yesterday was like X-Mas when i arrived home to find my new team kit had been delivered! At 44 years young, I didn't think one could feel as giddy as a kid getting his first little league jersey......I did!.........Tried it on and it fits and looks great. It may not make me any faster, but taking the leap from "Unattached" to a club/team definitely gives me a pshycological boost. I can't wait to roll up to the starting line this Saturday morning:D

Congrats! I clearly remember receiving mine (and still have it) from 1992. It was at a team meeting, and I was introduced to the rest of the team in what was almost a ceremony. Very memorable. Great team (Colorado Velo).

Good luck Saturday.

Colorado Velo had some fast juniors around that time.

Don't worry, in 15 years you'll be so much faster than you are now that it will make you wonder why you bothered ;)

Yeah they did. I came in at a good time, at 21 years old. I had a mentor off the team, but they helped me develop rapidly too. I joined up in June, had my first race as a 5, was Cat 3 at the end of August. Sean Dee used to push me so hard. That was the year he upgraded to 2. I finally got to where I could beat him in a sprint. (dunno if you know who I'm talking about :))

I wish I hadn't burned out the next year

When I ws racing against those guys in '90 and '91, they had Chris Wherry (currently with Toyota-United), Jimi Killen (super fast on the road, but also MTB junior world champ), Greg Miller, and Heath Sandall (awesome in the TT). I think Wherry is the only one still racing.

yeah, I sadly live in an area where there isnt a single race or a team within an hour drive in any direction...

this is what I get for living north of the ADK park in NY

LOL - I was 11 and my "jersey" was a t-shirt that said "Mike's Motorcycles" on the back!

Congratulations!

That's what I'm banking on.

I remember mine, becaus it was only in April. I arrived at the race, and got a SS, and LS jersey, bibs, tights, skinsuit and bottles.
