Any advice on dialing in my front fork? I have a trek 4500 with the rock shox dart 3 setup on there now. Im not really sure what the benifits of each adjustment is. thanks!
Set the preload so the fork sags about 20% of the fork's total travel, center out the rebound adjuster and go ride. Adjust rebound to feel.
Too little rebound will make the front end wallow and feel loose, too much won't let the fork extend, resulting in a harsh ride and nervous handling.
Mountain Bike Action has an in-depth piece on fork set-up in this month's issue.

with the preload part, do you mean with your weight on it? IF so, in an upright position> or in a more aggresive position?

Sag is measured with you seated on the bike in a normal riding position.
