1. Who are the people that the podium riders shake hands with after the trophies and jerseys are handed out? The people off in the wings? My guess is that they are local officials and "important" people. I realize that one of them is Hinault.
2. I remember reading that before riders started wearing sun glasses, years of riding would cause ones eyes to take on a slightly bloodshot look. It was said that one could easily pick out an old pro by the red in his eyes.
3. Any idea what the average life-span of a pro rider is? I recall hearing that riding at the level they do and putting those huge amounts of food through their bodies is just not that healthy.
