Anybody running Vs or side-pulls with the travel agents on their cx bikes? I've got a new(used) cross bike with some low end Shimano cantis and I was thinking about running my older XT Vs. Since I've already got the V's laying around, I would only have to pick up some Travel Agents. I haven't set up cantis in many years and didn't enjoy it when I had to. The Vs are easier to set up and offer better stopping power. I'm not going to race, so no concern about following the rules. Experiences good/bad?

I have used travel agents with xt Vs on my Redline Conquest for about six months. They can be a pain to set up, but after that they work great. The only problem was that the XTs are noisy unless they are setup right.

I have a front XTR V on a JTS I bought used so I've no idea about the setup but it seems to work just fine. Occasionally it does feel like squealing but other that, everything is cool.

What do you mean you have no idea about the set-up? It's your bike, you're riding it! Does it have a travel agent? Dia-Compe levers? You can't not know about your own bike!

chill amigo. I mean I have no idea about "how much of a PITA it is to setup". better? Yes, I have a travel agent, paired with xtr V brakes and shimano 105 flight deck shifters.
happy now? ;)

I'm happy that it appears you're not an idiot.

I've got a Deore V brake and TA on the front of my ancient Conquest and so far it's working fine with Mirage levers. Cured the brake shudder and they stop me and the bike fine with plenty of control. It's a cool look with all that black stuff on a refrigerator white frame.

I guess I am an idiot after all then. All this time I thought the amount of "bike knowledge" one had, had nothing to do with REAL intelligence. ho, hum. I guess I will go study my bike manual now.
