So, I heard about this book on NPR, it's called The No ***hole Rule. I thought it sounded interesting, so I picked up a copy.

This was a couple months ago.

Well, that book has made my couple months much easier. The book is on how to deal with ***holes, jerks, bullies, and the like in the workplace and in general life. It inspired me to institute a very strict no ***hole rule in my life, which has been sublime!

Has anyone else read this delicious book?

One of my colleagues has been raving about the book and the patterns that they espouse, that he now sees in *******s he has dealt with in his careers.. I am in the queue to borrow the book.

I use my ******* though.

It doesn't make sense to not have one.

As a matter of fact, I have. It's been very helpful.

Huh. This is one of those books that doesn't sound like something I'd need (I pretty much have a "no *******s" personal policy already in place :p), but now I'm curious.

And now a joke for the well read:

If Vonnegut would have written it, it would be called the "The No * Rule"

(get it?)

(pouts) No.

(pouts some more)

(thinks some more)

Still no.

(feels dumb)

I feel that by responding to this question, I'm actually getting caught in a nerd test. I get it.

We all can deal with @$$holes outside of the workplace, we choose the no contact rule. But in the workplace, we have to deal the obnoxious A-Holes. My question is how best to handle them? We have to interact on a daily basis AND try to be somewhat civil. Any help in this area?

Is this book for people who are nonconfrontational and get walked on by jerks?

Just keep a roll of TP handy. When someone is being a hole, just hand it to them.

If you want it to be a little clearer, it's the "No * rule"

Reminds me of a joke. From a Steve Martin stand up routine.
"I just published a new book. It's called 'How to Get Along With Everyone'. I didn't write it alone, though. I wrote it with this other *******, jerkoff..."

Sounds like an interesting read. I may take a look for it.
