Foo - The Why? thread..

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey now - I just spent last weekend with a group of friends and watched my "geeky" friend podium 1st place in his age class!
And he came back to racing just a year after on a rainy race in Maryland - see the No. 1 guy on bicycle part ready to overtake when he experienced a high speed wobble (buy behind him clocked him at 62 mph down a mtn) and crashed (that was 2 yrs ago). Lost 2 inches in height due to 3 crushed vertebrae, lost right eye vision, has a large portion of his right arm with no feeling, etc - yet he was racing a year later and now a total of two years later - his times are better than before. One hell of a cool and determined person.

Because we always are trying to figure out how to get out workouts in. If you do nothing but riding, it's easy :)

Sorry Tude, I didnt mean to make fun or come off as insulting.. Bad question phrasing on my part, it should have read what makes triatheletes geeks..
Anyway your friend sounds like a pretty cool dude..

:) no problem. He's one hell of a guy. Actually we say three elderly men from the ages of 73 to 82 who did the short distance tri.
600 people entered in the entire race - I was drooling at the staging area, let me tell ya with some of the bikes. And yes there were several people who basically were completing the race because they could and they tried - on hybrids (?) but the best one was one my racing friend saw - she was on a hybrid - with rack on the back AND a freaking milkcrate bungied to it. Now come on, hehe
Now let's go on to a better WHY topic.
Why do people wear tight sweatpants with slogans on their butt?

Better yet - why can't the product you buy whether at mcd's or taco bell or wherever actually LOOK like the picture.
One day I will have to insist that my taco LOOKS EXACTLY like the one in the picture above the cash registers. Guess I'll be getting asked not to return after that :)

In baseball, why do they call it the "foul pole"? A ball that hits it, is fair

American football. Where did it get the name football? And along those lines how did we screw up the name of European football to soccer?

Why do I always have some part of my body that's scratched, scraped, cut, scabbed over or otherwise injured? Why can't I, just once, be completely healed?

Why do people fall for the idea that Subway food is abnormally healthy, and why do people believe the gibberish they print in their healthy eating leaflets?

eh.,..I like triatheletes and prefer to watch it over road biking. Shows more versatility and makes for a better overall athlete. Heck at least they have upper bodies.

American Football is a derivative of traditional football.
Soccer was called Associated Football for many years before being shortened to Assoc. and then finally soccer to distance it from pigskin flippin'.
