After finallly waking up to the fact that the I-5 construction in Seattle (Aug 10-29) is going to create real havoc for the next 3 weeks, I've spent the week getting my bike ready to be a commuter....got a rear rack, dug out some 20-year-old panniers, bought a better lock, etc. etc. Nice way to put in some extra miles; I have a 12-mile commute each way.

Anyone else planning to commute by bike for the first time this month?

Hehehe, I get to escape for the first week (going on holiday :D ).

But, my commute is across the Kent Valley, so I get to escape the worst of it.

Phewwww!

Gee I really feel for you guys that have to drive to Seattle on I-5 I think I would stab myself in the eye with a rusty nail if I had to do that day in and day out. Peace and calm be with you. My commute takes me from the frontier town of Sumner to the golden city of Algona. :) Boy there is a name Algona I wonder where that came from? Oh hey Easthill the wife and I took a short ride after she got home from work this afternoon. I naturally took the Varsity I can't ride that bike without grinning like an idiot, something about that steel makes me smile

You can blame me (well, at least the Post Office :) ) for the name 'Algona'. "Originally named Algoma, Indian term for "valley of flowers," the name was misspelled by postal officials."

Steel is great, isn't it :D ?

Hey, that just makes the bike heavy enough so that it's a real smooth ride :p .
