Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and a new cyclist in Minneapolis MN. I've been riding May after not sitting on a bike for about 15 years. Funny what a guy will go through when he starts dating a cyclist. ;)

My girlfriend's been an avid cyclist for over 10 years so I've been perusing the forum to get some additional pointers. I'm primarily a road cyclist (I ride a 2003 Specialized Allez Elite) and pretty much have my cycling legs back for that. What I'm looking for is more information on mountain biking and tandems, did I mention that my girlfriend is an avid cyclist? :p

Well, from what I can see I've found the right place to get information on building up my cycling knowledge!

I too bike in the Minneapolis area. It is hard to find a long enough trail,,,but not real bad overall.

I grew up there and return occasionally. For roadies traveling at subcompetition velocity there is of corse the extensive interconnected parkway system around the lakes. Lake of the Isles-Calhoun-Nakomis-Hiawatha etc etc. Many combinations available for any distance. When I was home 2 summers ago my sister and her boyfriend turned me on to a new area; the countryside on the Wisconsin side of Lake Peppin. Thigh popping uphills and of course what goes up must come down! Very few cars so you can really crank it up! Buy a good map and use it. Possibilities nearly endless for super long and very scenic rides.
