Road Cycling - Brake pad question.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What are those extensions? Are they for adjusting the pad? What do they called?
i would like to ask the same question.....

They look like something you can hold while adjusting the positioning of the brake pad. I'm not completely sure, but that's what it looks like.

That's what I thought, but then again MTB's pads don't have it, and you still can adjust them.

It seems like a pointless little piece. I mean you can just touch the brake pad.... but maybe that's what it is...?
Do you have a manual for the brakes? maybe it says in there. If not, as the manufacture.

I forget the exact name... tire guides (or something).
They are there so when you're doing a quick wheel change (like in a race) the tire is guided in between the pads. Try doing a fast change without them...
Also if the tire doesn't ram into the pad there's less of a chance that the brake will get knocked out of alignment.
That makes sense. Thanks!
