I'm trying to get a pair of clipless pedals for under $50. I've found a set of these that fit my budget, but they've gotten mixed reviews. I'm trying to decide if I should get them or wait until X-mas and see what Santa might bring. I've got an MS 150 in early October, so I'd want to act within the next week or so to give me time to get used to them (would 7 weeks be enough?). Please be brutally honest so I can make an informed decision. I've never had clipless before, so I have no preconceived notions of what should and should not work...

Thanks.

Carl, I got a pair of cheap ($40) Wellgo MTB pedals and they work fine for me. After about 5 minutes it was like I had been riding clipless all my life. I got MTB pedals and shoes so I could walk once I got off the bike - it worked! Specialized MTB shoes at about $60 - a good $100 solution, for me.

I've windered about that. Was there enough float for your legs? Mine are bowed and I've heard mtb clipless pedals have less float than road pedals (not that I know how much is "not enough", etc...)
