Hi I just found a neat Sekine bike of the townie style. I know it was made in Manitoba, because there is a faded sticker that says 'Made In Canada' near the bottom of the seat tube, and there was only one factory in Canada, that I know of. I'll post a picture and more details tonight.

Yes, Sekine had an assembly plant in a town called Rivers in the late 70's early 80's i think. It was on an old RCAF airforce base and the deal was that the companys got a tax deal for hiring First Nations workers. I still have an old Sekine road bike in the garage, it was a pretty decent bike in its day

I had one too. It was given to me by my father in laws second wifes family. A native. I think she had a connection and got it for free.

Hey Bill, I'm the Mechanic you talked to at Larry's Cycle. If you pay a visit to the Classic and Vintage section of this site the people there could put a ballpark figure on it for you:

But like I said on the phone, if you put it on www.castanet.net for $200 you would get it for sure, this town is booming right now for bike sales.

If it has the rhinestone headbadge it was made in the 1970s in Japan. This is a really interesting thread on the subject:

But to make it short, it should be a pretty nice bike. The chrome wheels downgrade it a bit, because the chrome rims are not very good at stopping in the rain.
Can you get us some photos, and list the components? If you added this information to the Sekine thread that would be great--we always like to throw more information on the database :) .
Thanks, and welcome to Bike Forums!
