I've been riding off and on since college (21 years ago), almost exclusively for personal transportation. Since the summer of 2004 I've been commuting to work (used to be 14 miles, now 11 miles, one way) 3-5 days per week from about Valentine's Day to Thanksgiving. This winter I plan to gear up for the cold, wet (and usually dark) rides and only slack off on icy days.

I ride a too-small Schwinn Sidewinder bought on sale at Wal*Mart in 2004 (cuz that's what I could afford that year). It is starting to show its 3000 miles of abuse. I'll be asking Santa for a replacement this year. (I've been good. Honest!)

I hope to learn more about bike maintenance, cold- and wet-weather gear, and what specs I should give Santa for my next bike.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll enter in the Seattle-to-Portland ride next year. I'll need to learn more about road riding for that.

Looking forward to meeting you online!

Hello, East Hill!

I'm up in Brier, due north of Lake Washington, just above the Snohomish County line.

I'll be sure to check out the PNW forum. Thanks for the welcome.
