Foo - External Hard Drive Recommendatios for a Macbook

My Macbook came with a 60gb hardrive. I have used 53gb and fastly running out of room.

I have been searching for a hard drive designed and recommended for a Mac.

I have encountered the Lacie, Iomega Black Series, and OWC.

I prefer one with FireWire 400.

Anyone have experience with these or other for a Mac?

Any suggestions on a recommended external hard drive?

Please give me some answers before I am "locked up". :eek::D

The prices are pushed down on the Firewire 400 due to the Firewire 800 and eSATA transfers being popular right now.

It got great reviews. And seemed the most consistant.

My internal drive was fine until I got on this movie downloading spree. :rolleyes:

I have a couple of the LaCie externals, with both firewire (400 and 800) and USB 2 interfaces. One is a little flaky, occasionally failing to mount on startup, requiring a reboot. The other has been flawless for nearly a year. Also an Accomdata that is really bad; firewire works intermittently, only USB is mostly reliable.

No experience with the other brands you mentioned.

Yeah, I was onto the Lacie first because of their sleek design. Then got mixed reviews.

The Lacie that works well which model is it?

I dont know how mac works but I have a network drive hooked into my router, that way I can access my files with only one computer running, I use to use my old dell computer with 2 hard drives in there for storage and a printer server, but i had to keep it running all the time, running everything off my network drive is so much eaiser.

I (Mac) recommend Western Digital.

+1 for the Western Digital. I have one in my PC. Very quick and no complaints.

Seagate for the drive all the way, can't beat a five year warranty.
for enclosures? OWC is great so you're on track with that.
